End of the day, its our fault for letting these leaders "lead" us into spending oblivion.

Not a Civil Servant said...

Here's a question...How many people complaining about this salary article would settle for a lower salary or receiving fewer benefits in their occupation? Are their families more important than the civil servants? What if the salary of every resident in Larchmont was public information? Are we to assume the residents are more deserving of their high salaries and bonuses than the civil servant? In the end, everyone wants to provide for their family in the best way possible and people should stop judging. Or is this really about the same old fire department argument?

The Police Chief retired and Tom Anderson (FD) was there for many years, 25?
They asked Tom to stay on because of his experience, and I know he had to still work another job while here and his family was down south. So don't use these two Men in ther figures for your comments please

When you work in the civil service you should expect a number of things: 1. Your salary can/will be made public. 2. You will not have the opportunity to make the kind of money one can make in the private sector but in exchange you will have a relatively secure job, decent health benefits and a pension. 3. You will always find dissatisfied citizen who will take it out on you.

2.1 million dollar surplus. Larchmont can afford it.

Oh, I am NOT mad at the firefighters at all. They've figured out a way to make a lot of money via overtime, they justify their existence through whatever means to get the mayor to pay for all of this and its hilarious to think that they're doing it all in a one square mile village. No, not mad at the firefighters at all, since I too would want to get as much as possible for doing as little as possible. Its human nature I am STEAMING mad at the POLITICIANS who let this occur. Its way too much money and FELD should have her head examined. But hey, she's for change and cost control, righhhhhtttttt?

1) I dont live in the Village of Larch.

2) Im in my own business, not a Fireman or policeman

3) OT alone doesnt mean anything. You must look at the Overall budget. If there are two fire positions that arent filled during the year, the OT of 6 or 7 fireman may be LESS than filling those two positions right away.

Doesn't this make sence, regardless of those seemingly high salaries? Feedback apreciated!

Agreed Feld has been on a spending spree at a cost to villagers. She's got to go-far away. She should go mess up some other village.

4:06, within certain parameters you are correct - often overtime is less expensive coverage than paying a full-time employee regular wage plus benefits, etc. And, it keeps one more person off the lifetime State of NY pension list. I have looked at these numbers closely enough to know if that works in this case.

you're all ridiculous.. if you dont like something maybe you should get involved and try to make a difference. quit crying about things you have no idea about, i.e. balancing budgets and running a local gov't.

as usual these comments are good for a chuckle. thanks lynda for all the entertainment.

Here we go again!!!! they all work
the OT please it's like giving candy to a kid they suck it all up
even if it 's not needed I blame the LV for letting it happen.

the LV ???

Its not like nobody saw this coming. The ot always goes to the senior man in anticipation of retirement .The last three years pay is what you will end up with as far as the formula goes. BTW mr Anderson was not an operations capt he was brought back down to lt but under the rules he kept the pay.

Anonymous said...

BTW 5:22 you are incorrect. people shouldnt comment on things that they don't know about, but i guess thats why its an anonymous blog.

Anonymous said...

what up with all the ot? and Anderson pay what the H!!! is that all about????

Anonymous said...

What, no comments for Rubeo's pay?

We, taxpayers of Larchmont pay the Police for sick days they do not take? And they can accumulate these days year after year? What a racket.

Why are police getting such salaries when there is little law enforcement. People use their cell phones while driving all over Larchmont, make u-turns whenever they feel like it, double park. Gardeners ignore the laws about gas powered blowers.

Complain to your beloved mayor & her group of stooges.

Better yet let the town take over Problem solved. They have OT issues too but are better than larchmont for heading it off.

I pay a lot in taxes. I don't want the Town taking over fire service. I chose to live in the Village of Larchmont, not the Town of Mamaroneck. Let the Town worry about their own issues and problems. There was and still are reasons the Village incorporated so many years ago.

8:29 am What second job for pops are you talking about?? Working at his second home at the cove?? 8:06 pm, pay for what you want but right now the LFD can't even put out the smallest of fires without calling for help, tops 4 paid guys and 3 volunteers showing up. Did the village incorporate in 1892 to provide inadequate fire service???

hat off to you!!!! the village is way out if the line. and give it up Larchmont V Town of Mamaroneck
It really the same we all use Mamaroneck schools, same zip, and your mail comes Larchmont NY. Not th town of Mamk. Get really .
